Okay, it's finally Friday :/ Havent been updating since like Monday? D: Brief updates okay, the week hasn't been going exactly well - alot of setbacks here and there, leaving me emotionally and mentally especially drained compared to the physical. I'll leave out the details since it's rather personal and private but yeah, prayer from alot of folks & the supports of the bestest girlfriends(bel & chel) & brother(derek) in the world helped loads (:
Okay, so i'm back to promote something for a good cause. I attended a CE talk in school yesterday held by this organisation called Operation Smile. They're a team of highly trained and passionate doctors and nurses who go around the world (esp those developing countries) giving free constructive surgery to young kids and toddlers with facial defects, majority consisting of Cleft Lips and Cleft Palates. These kids, not only born with a facial defect - they cannot eat properly, swallow properly and sometimes even breathe properly; things that we as humans take for granted. They subcumb to starvation and infections as a result of going untreated; yet we in Singapore and other parts of the world complain we have too much food and still refuse food 'fearing we'd be called fat'. They cannot even speak properly and here we are blabbering thousand and one nonsense and hurling hurtful words to others.
They dont even have a smile. This is where Operation Smiles come in to help correct these deformaties, and along with that do a follow up on each kid, making sure they swallow properly, drink properly and teach them languages so that they can speak too. They have the facilities, they have the resource, they have the humungous passion, but they too need funds to help these children. It only takes $240 to carry out a 45min long surgery that can fix these problems *results vary. It's not very expensive for a surgery that will change one young life forever. AND SO, i'm going to dedicate myself to raising funds for this cause. Anyone who's willing to donate, pls leave a tag and let me know. As little as $2 will do, it's the heart and thought that counts. A little goes a long way. Let's bless these kids with whatever they can. The least the can do is to be able to carry a smile through the course of their lives.
